WIZARD WORLD LOS ANGELES 2008 FILM FESTIVAL
Have you ever wanted your original film viewed by thousands of people over the course of an entire weekend? Well, now's your chance! Wizard World Los Angeles is proud to announce the 3rd annual Wizard World Film Festival to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, March 14th-16th, 2008. Lucky entrants will win the chance to have their short film shown all weekend long at Wizard World Los Angeles while the Grand Prize winner (voted on by the fans in attendance) will see a segment of his or her film travel to Wizard World Chicago to be shown there! Here's what you gotta know:
CALL FOR ENTRIES:
Create an original film no longer than 30 minutes in length in any of the following categories: Action, Animated, Comedy, Horror/Sci-Fi. In addition, your film must also adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Submissions can be on either VHS tape or DVD, but if your entry is on DVD you must include a VHS copy as backup.
2. All films must be NO LONGER than THIRTY minutes. We mean this!!!
3. No nudity or graphic violence. Profanity is acceptable, but don't go crazy. Think PG-13. The more people it appeals to, the better chance it has of being shown.
4. Participants cannot submit the same film in different categories, however, can submit multiple films in each category. Each submission MUST be on a separate DVD/VHS and have its own entry form.
5. All films must be in English or contain subtitles for any non-English speaking films.
6. With the exception of former Wizard World Film Festival “Best In Fest” Grand Prize winners, films entered in previous Wizard World Film Festivals may be resubmitted for consideration again, even if it has already been shown at a previous Wizard World Film Festival.
Once your film is complete, attach a label on your DVD/VHS with the full name of the director, address, phone number and the title of the film, and mail it along with a completed entry form (that you can download below) to:

All films received by February 1, 2008 will be viewed by a panel of Wizard judges to select finalists whose films will be shown at the Wizard World LA Film Festival on March 14th-16th, 2008. Finalists will be selected based on originality and creativity. Wizard Entertainment holds sole discretion on which films will be chosen to be shown. During Wizard World LA 2008, films will be broken into four categories and voted on by the fans in attendance. The four categories are:
A) Best Action
B) Best Animated
C) Best Comedy
D) Best Horror/Sci-Fi
GRAND PRIZE (1)
Of the four Category Winners, the film with the highest overall amount of votes will win the coveted "Best in Fest" award to be presented at Wizard World Los Angeles and will receive a screening at Wizard World Chicago (June 26th-29th, 2008) at the Rosemont Convention Center. The winner will also be eligible for a free Small Press Booth at Wizard World Los Angeles 2009 (valued at over $1,000!) to help display and publicize his or her winning film at one of the largest pop culture venues in America. Winner must contact Wizard Conventions, Inc. at 845-268-2000 by April 25, 2008 to reserve this space.
CATEGORY WINNERS (4)
The winners of each individual category will be announced along with the title of their film and a link to their web site (if applicable) on the Wizard World Film Festival site following the show's completion.
ENTRY FEE
We are waiving any initial fee for all entrants. That's right, just clearly label your DVD/VHS tape, complete an entry form and send it in!
DEADLINE
The Have-A-Heart deadline is January 15th, 2008. (We have a lot of films to watch, please give our eyes a break and enter early!) The No-Exception-Final deadline to enter is February 1st, 2008. Submissions received after this date will not be considered.
